Jan. 30: A&E's "Live by Request" with Vince Gill just finished,
and Dolly made a quick stop via satellite to tell Vince how much she loves him
and to announce she has a gospel special she is currently filming to air April 1
on TNN. Dolly noted how her duet version of "I Will Always Love You" with Vince
(1996 CMA winner for Vocal Collaboration of the Year) was her favorite of the
dozens of versions out there, adding that she believed this even though Whitney
Houston's smash cover of the song brought her much more money in songwriting
royalties. Vince performed the song, sans Dolly (a newcomer named Sonya Isaacs
did Dolly's part).
* Dolly rushed up the Biography.com survey No. 4 up to No. 1 for the best
country song of all time. The top choices are: "I Will Always Love You," 32.1
percent; "The Dance," 22.7 percent; "If You've Got the Money, I've Got the
Time," 22.0 percent; "Crazy," 18.5 percent; "Stand By Your Man," 4.8 percent.
