'Blue Smoke' Passes 250,000 Copies Overseas
Dolly's Blue Smoke last week sold about 13,000 copies overseas, giving it a 25-week sales total in the U.K. of about 254,500 units. Given that the U.K. has about one-fifth the population of the U.S., that is roughly the equivalent of selling about 1.27 million copies stateside. The album, which was certified silver and gold overseas over the summer, is only about 45,000 copies short of the British platinum mark of 300,000 units, and if she can maintain her current sales rate for the next few weeks, she could see her second-ever career platinum album in the U.K. by the start of the new year.
